On Monday 16 July, the partners of the Spain-Corea Chamber of Commerce give a welcome lunch to the new Ambassador of Corea in Spain, Hong-jo Chun. The lunch take place in the REPSOL headquarters, accredited partner of the Chamber, who was kind to serve the host with the Managing Director appearance, Josu Jon Imaz.

In her speech of acknowledgement, the Ambassador Chun, emphasized the fact of that the last year the exchange between Corea and Spain achieved the 5 thousand million euros, recovering the level before the economical world crisis of 2008. Similarly, he pointed that the investments have become diversified and that is the impulse of cooperation into new fields like renewable energies and industry 4.0.

 

Josu Jon Imaz, for its part make reference to the very successful joint venture until for an amount of 280 million euros made REPSOL and SK lubricants in 2012 for build a lubricant plant in Cartagena city. The relation between the corean company and the spanish has been so positive in all facts that they are seeing in wich other projects can cooperate.

 

The number of corean turists that visit Spain reached the last year the figure of 450 thousand, and is a discharge that does not stop of grow up. Instead, the spanish people that visit Corea are just 25 thousand.

The Ambassador mentioned interest of her country to promote together with Spain the triangle cooperation not only with iberoamerican countries but also with north african and north european countries. “Owing to its geographical location, history and cultural identity, Spain is for Corea an excellent platform, is the gateway in Latin America, north of Africa and Europe. Likewise, Corea is for Spain an important gateway to the asian markets like Chile and India” he said.

Javier Cremades, president of the Chamber welcomed the Ambassador´s commitment of work very closely with the Chamber and expressed her wish of cooperate very actively with the Ambasador and her Embassy.

The Chamber partners had the opportunity to dialogue with the Ambassador and to make known the activities of their companies.
