In December last year, South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy released a draft of its “Renewable Energy 3020” implementation plan, in which it declared that it will increase renewable energy’s share of the energy mix from its current level of 7% to 20% by 2030 by providing 48.7GW in new generating capacity, the equivalent of 35 nuclear power plants. Therefore, an investment of around 100 billion dollars will be made, both from the public sector and from the private sector. This opens a new window of opportunity for renewable energy companies around the world, and especially for Spanish companies, which are globally renowned for their capacity and expertise in the development of renewable energy projects and have a strong presence and influence on energy and environmental development over the five continents.

I am very pleased to welcome you to this Spain-Korea Breakfast Meeting on Renewable Energies, where you will have the opportunity to discover the new possibilities of cooperation between Spain and Korea not only for operating and deepening in our respective markets, but also in third countries. I am sure that you will find the meeting of great interest.
