The General Secretariat (SEGIB) today welcomed South Korea as an observer of this body, pending formalization by the presidents at the XXV Summit that begins tomorrow in Cartagena (Colombia).
At a meeting of the Ibero-American General Secretary, Rebeca Grynspan, with the ambassadors of France, Italy, Haiti, Morocco, Japan, Netherlands, Philippines and Belgium, as well as representatives of Colombia and Mexico, countries introduced to China in the Ibero-American system.
 
At the end of the session, Grynspan told Efe that the ambassadors shared "very specific proposals" for cooperation to design a "much more intense agenda" with observer countries.
 
"They are very aware of the programs of Latin American cooperation, we have been opening doors for them to participate with member countries," said Grynspan, adding that they showed "special interest" in the areas of education, entrepreneurship and innovation.
 
On the incorporation of South Korea, Costa Rica explained that it was a "forward" welcome at the expense of presidential approval, and praised the "help" of this country in these preparatory meetings.
 
For his part, the ambassador of China in Bogota, Jang Myung-soo, thanked the "support" of Colombia and Segib to enter the community and stressed the interest his country to "share experiences" in matters of education, innovation and technology.
 
"We want to share our experience to help entrepreneurship and youth in their future," he said before stressing that this income "can contribute much to deepen cooperation" who want to "develop in Latin America.
 
The ambassador also pointed to a possible economic fund will allocate Korea to the Ibero-American community to develop cooperation actions, but said that until incorporation is not official, will not have exact amounts. EFE
