SEOUL, June 2 (Yonhap) - South Korea expressed their commitment to play a more important role in global efforts to address development issues and to address climate change at the annual ministerial meeting of the Organization for Cooperation and Economic Development (OECD), to be held this week, the Foreign Ministry said Tuesday in Seoul in a press release.
At the meeting, two days, starting on Wednesday in Paris, will attend the second South Korean Vice Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul.
The Foreign Ministry said South Korea, which ranks this year as vice president of the meeting, played an active role in setting the agenda and preparation of the conference, under the theme "Liberation investment for sustainable growth and jobs ", will focus on the role of the OECD to promote growth-oriented investment and ensure the success of the post-2015 development agenda of the UN and the Climate Summit to be held in Paris in the month of December.
It is planned that during the conference, South Korean Cho explain policies to the creation of an economy with low carbon emissions and seek the support of the OECD for the establishment of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), headquartered in Seoul, as a key source of income in order to help developing nations fight climate change.
It is also expected that Cho expose the role of the OECD in providing more effective support for developing countries and emphasize the importance of the joint search for practical measures to achieve the objectives of the development agenda post 2015, They are currently being discussed.
