SEOUL, May 16 ( Yonhap) - is scheduled to President , Park Geun- hye, will meet Friday with representatives of the families of the victims of the sunken ferry Sewol , to hear their views on the problems revealed in disaster management , as it is preparing a package of measures to solve them, told reporters presidential spokesman Min Kyung- wook.
The president also plans to comfort the family and discuss the package being prepared to improve the standards of national security and emergency response system , and solve other problems.
President is expected to reflect the views of the family in the statement to the nation , which is expected to issue next week to apologize again for the poor government response to the disaster and given to summarize the way in which they fix the problems revealed after the wreck .
A total of 476 people, including 325 high school students on a school trip , were on board the ferry Sewol , of 6,825 tons , when it sank on 16 April in waters near the island of Jindo , on the southwestern coast of country . The ferry was en route from the port of Incheon, west of South Korea, to the southern island of Jeju.
So far, it has been confirmed a balance of 284 dead, 20 missing and 172 people rescued.
