SEOUL, Sept. 30 (Yonhap) - South Korean tech giant, Samsung Electronics Co., was located this year in eighth place among the top 100 brands in the world, up one level from a year earlier, a report showed Monday .

The Samsung brand value rose to 39.600 billion this year, up 20 percent compared with 32.900 million in the previous year, according to the annual report by Interbrand, a consulting brand in the world.

Samsung joined the ranks of the world's top 20 brands in 2009 and the 10 in 2012.

Hyundai Motor Co. was another South Korean company that is on the list, ranking No. 43. The leading car manufacturer in the country rose 10 places, and its brand value increased 20 percent to 9,000 million dollars, which represents one of the largest annual increases among automakers.

Its small affiliate Kia Motors Corp., saw its brand value by 15 percent to 4.700 million, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Apple Inc., maker of the iPhone, this year ranked first among the top 100 brands in the world, with its brand value of 98.300 billion.

Google Inc. ranked second with 93,300 million, while Coca-Cola came in third place with its brand value estimated at 79.200 million.

Other American brands such as Microsoft Corp. and McDonald's Corp., also included in the top 10 brands in the world, the report added.
