SEOUL, Sept. 15 (Yonhap) - South Korea posted a trade surplus in August for the 19th consecutive month, as exports increased more than imports, showed, on Sunday, the Customs Service data from South Korea.

In August, exports totaled U.S. $ 46.378 million, an increase of 7.7 percent, while imports recorded a slight increase of 1 percent to 41.525 million dollars, with which the country had a trade surplus of 4.852 million dollars.

The trade balance in South Korea recorded a surplus for the 19th consecutive month since February last year.

Meanwhile, in the first eight months of this year, the trade surplus for South Korea reached 27,400 million. Exports rose 1.7 percent year on year to 368,700 million dollars, while imports reached 341,400 million, a decrease of 1.7 percent.
